Our Background

The Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad Institute of Thoughts was established with the approval from the Malaysian cabinet on 30th July, 2003. It aims to be the leading centre of research, consultancy and training on Leadership and Institutional Building for national and global agenda involving UUM’s diverse expertise. Hence the institute resolves to foster excellence in scholarship, applied research and disseminate knowledge and service to society in the efforts to exploit human and natural resources efficiently.

Our philosophy is to promote applied research informed by the ideas and notions of Tun Mahathir and other leading thoughts on management philosophies and pedagogies cognizant of the unique Malaysian context. In so doing, the centre will help realize the UUM vision of being the “Eminent Management University”.

The institute established a conduit of two-pronged portfolios, namely: Domestic Portfolios and Internationalization Portfolios. The way forward initiatives are to manifest the existence of this institute for the period of 2019 – 2035.
