The country has witnessed many efforts that have been done by the government in maintaining and transforming the political system, democracy and public policies. Lately, there have been many issues involving neighbouring countries, such as the separatist movement in Southern Thailand, air polution caused by haze in Indonesia, and illegal immigrants, all of which make Malaysia more involved in global desicion-making activities. World financial and economic crises too have witnessed the changing of Malaysian policies in order to better serve the nation, neighbouring states, and also the world.
